Somewhat related, I remember it recently came out that RuPaul is actually frowned upon by some trans/nonbinary people for causing some straight people to have weird expectations/generalizations about trans-ness. Apparently anime/Japanese media does this kind of thing a lot? The impression I got was that while they're canonically otherworldly/not human, actual trans people might see them as perpetuating the "trans people are just weird guys who put on dresses" stereotype. Mother 3 will probably only ever make it out of Japan if Nintendo or whoever's in charge of it decides to do either a full remake or a straight port (not an emulation), since it's highly unlikely, given their stance on fan projects, that they'll use Tomato's translation and hacks to the original ROM or localize that themselves. It's extremely rare for a company to go back and translate a ROM for a discontinued console (Mother 1's localization was already complete but shelved for years, and the same is probably true of Star Fox 2) pretty much every game that was originally Japan-only and wasn't localized at the time was only released worldwide through a port or remake. I'd say the main issue with releasing Mother 3 internationally is its status as a GBA game. If they're concerned about children they could just bump up the ESRB rating. As other people have mentioned the Magypsies may end up being a problem, but Nintendo now is more progressive than Nintendo 10 or 20 years ago so it may turn out to be a non issue Fire Emblem and Bayonetta aren't exactly child friendly games yet Nintendo publishes them internationally.
